Background:
Ivana Mišić began her musical education at the age of 9 in the class of prof. Carmen Fuchs at the Vatroslav Lisinski School of Music in Zagreb, Croatia, where her final class was led by prof. Vesna Črnigoj. After having completed secondary musical education together with the gymnasium high school, she enrolled into the Academy of Music in Zagreb, where she graduated in 2017 with excellent marks in the class of prof. Renata Penezić. During her musical education she perfected her skills by working with renowned musicians and educators in Croatia and abroad: Wally Hase, Emmanuel Pahud, Andrea Oliva, András Adorján, Anna Garzuly, Hansgeorg Schmeiser, Michael Martin Kofler, Martin Belič, Marko Zupan, Matej Zupan, Carlo Jans, Renata Greiss, Jean-Claude Gerard and many others. She is a winner of the Rector’s Award of the University of Zagreb and she was awarded several first prizes at national competitions of the Croatian Society of Music and Dance Educators (HDGPP). She was also awarded the third prize at the Papandopulo Croatian Competition of Young Musicians. During same competition, 2021 she was awarded with the prize of Croatian Society of Composers for best interpretation of Croatian composer piece (Ibis by Ivan Božičević). While attending university, she completed a two-year jazz module where she was involved with classes of rhythm, ensemble, arranging and improvisation in jazz. She has performed as a soloist accompanied by the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra and Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra, as a member of a Jazz ensemble and as soloist of the Jazz orchestra of the Academy of Music, directed by prof. Saša Nestorović. She also had an outstanding solo performance at the Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall within the project the Harmony of Dissonance, and with pianists Zrinka Ivančić Cikojević. Together with pianist Mladen Grgić she has formed duo Geatenel in which she regularly performs through recitals and various projects. She served Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra from December 2018 to December 2019 as solo flute, leader of wind section where she learned from and worked with many renowned domestic and international conductors as well as she maintained her professional orchestra experience in a satisfying level during busy season filled with symphony and opera repertoire. She is cooperating as free lancer with the Opera Orchestra of the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb, Symphony Orchestra of Rijeka, and also she co-operated with Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra in several occasions in Croatia and Austria (Musikferein, Vienna).
