Background:
I am a professional music educator with 15 years of experience teaching piano, choir, voice, composition and musical theatre. I have worked as a full-time music teacher at the American Embassy School in New Delhi, India and the American International School of Mozambique, as well as Avenues: The World School and Brooklyn Friends School in New York City. I specialize in working with pre-teens, teens and adults, whether beginners or experienced players. I am an experienced, engaging and flexible piano teacher. I tailor my lessons to each student’s goals, musical interests and learning style. Music theory is an area of passion for me, and I am skilled at teaching it in a way that is relevant and immediately applicable to my students' musical interests. I have a bachelor’s degree in music from Harvard University and a master’s degree in composition for musical theatre from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. As a composer my work has been performed at NYC venues including Merkin Concert Hall at Kaufman Music Center, Joe’s Pub, Galapagos Art Space, and the Bruno Walter Auditorium at Lincoln Center.
